Tanglewood

Outreach

The Station provides a connection between The University of Alabama and local people, with the goal of deepening public understanding of the unique aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems of Tanglewood and the biodiversity of the state of Alabama.

Recent activities included a survey by Ken Wills, a volunteer with the Alabama Ornithological Society, who visited Tanglewood as part of a larger Summer Bird Count of the Sawyerville Quad. Ken found a total of 37 taxa during a 2.5-hour survey of the property. Tanglewood was the only location in the Quad where Louisiana Waterthrush and Chuck-Will’s-Widow were recorded. The full eBird report is here: eBird Report for Tanglewood.
